Do you need planning permission for a Garden Room from Argos?
Question:Most conservatories are too expensive but this idea might be possible if not too much trouble with the planning authorities.
Answers:
no planning permission needed, don't know the exact regs but its classed as a shed
maybe best to call Council and check to be safe. They are very quick to jump on you if you havent got consent when you need it!
as I don't know where you live I can't answer this properly but most areas will allow these to be built without planning permission but to be on the safe side ask the local authority planning officer as they will have all the information for your area to hand
it depends on the size and your planning authorities and the people living next door as they could complain to always best to contact your local council
every town is different and have their own laws. check with the town first.
As i remember if it isn't on permenent foundations it's ok, but a call to the local BCO wouldn't hurt, they can be quite helpful
Some extremely dubious answers given above. Scary, as if you fall foul of planning laws it can be quite serious.
There are clear and defined national (not local as someone stated) regulations on whether you can put up an extension or an outbuilding and if so, where it can go and the maximum sizes and volumes. On occasion there are planning conditions restricting additional development and also different regulations for Listed Buildings or sites within a Conservation Area. As you can imagine there are far too many variables to list here but speak to the planning department, give them your address, tell them the size of the structure (they need the volume and height) and where you want to put it. They will advise you and if they tell you that you do not need permission get it in writing so you have a record should you wish to sell your house in the future (and for your own protection). Also check your deeds for any restrictive covenants. The latter is not a Council matter but if the Planning Dept say you are ok this would not override the deeds. If you have any problems contact me through my website below though you should be able to sort this yourself. However, please do not accept opinions on planning requirements from anyone other than qualified people. There are a lot of lounge bar lawyers out there. Good Luck
