What is the best way to take faux brick off of your walls?
Question:We just bought a home and it has the faux brick on one wall, was is the best way to strip it down to just the dry wall and get rid of the 'bricks'"??
Answers:
Use a chisel, 2-3" wide or so, and use it to pop off the bricks and mortar. Then, you'll need to use a solution of muriatic acid to take off any mortar. Wear appropriate gloves.
A chistle? It comes off in one piece I think.
.
Be prepared for a BIG mess. you have to either start at the edge if possible and then you crack the bricl. you need to take off each brick indivuly and be prepared to possibil having to re drywall the area. The wall will be pulled off in alot of spots.
Tap it lightly all over with a hammer and it should crack and come off easy,
If they used liquid nails good luck on getting to the dry wall, I would use a large putty knife and a hammer, slide the knife behind the brick and tap with the hammer. If the dry wall is in sad shape it may need to be replaced. Good Luck
Boy, I hope a chistle works! Otherwise be prepared to remove the entire wall board as well. Other option is to put new drywall over the faux bricks.
