The best way to decorate is using the things and colors you absolutely love! Anything less will make the room feel like someone else's room.
Paint done well can change any room right off! Accessories like throw pillows, blinds or curtains, lighting, etc. can be done at any time to spruce up a room, and can be changed again in a snap!

photos of friends and family on a tack board and ur favorite colors thorught out the room. just as simple as possible. the more stuff u have going on the more crowded it looks.
One of the best rules of decorating that I know of, is to use colors that look good on you. IN other words, look at your wardrobe to determine what colors and what shade in those colors that you are drawn to and use those colors in your room. Choose 3 colors and use those as a fundemental base to decorate. By using colors that you are drawn to, you will feel more at ease in your room and also you will feel more that your room is an expression of yourself.
hang pictures or art on the walls. and get new curtains, bedding, draw knobs, and/or rugs, these are easy things to change(no furniture moving required) and they make a big difference!

Move your bed and dresser or whatever else around and add pictures and stuff that is just you
