Thickness of concrete kennel floor?
Question:I plan on using a concrete mix I can pour myself to lay down a concrete pad for my dog kennel-10'X10'.
Would 2" thickness be enough if I put wire in the floor? I noticed patio concrete squares are 2".
Thank you

Keep in mind the 2" thick squares are about 12" wide and thus can shift easily with the heaving of the soil conditions. A concrete slab should be no less than 3 1/2" (2x4 form) thick with 6x6 10/10 wire mesh. This will help the concrete from cracking and seperating due to the freezing, thawing and wet/drying conditions of the soil. To help eliminate these problems even more, a 2" layer of sand or gravel under the slab will help.

It may be thick enough, but will probably crack. Patio blocks can be thin because it only has a surface area of 8" X 16" Ten foot square is a big area. I would reccomend 3 1/2" deep with mesh for durability.BTW a 10 x 10 x 3 1/2 = 1 yard of concrete.
