take the carpets of and wash the floors and paint them
black or browns. or the other way light natural wood colors
For furniture, go dark wood with earth tone upholstery like beige/cream or white.
For a more modern look, use metal furniture, those that are in chrome or silver frame, with same earth shades as cushions and pillows. You can also put an area rug with a different texture from the floor carpet and in a different shade for it to come out, also in earth colors. If you like, get curtains too... all in lighter shades to balance to monster red floor!
Your kitchen can dictate another personality. Doesn't have to really go together. Go green or toned-yellow. Brown kitchen is also nice to go with the red..
Good Luck!
How about a lot of ivory or tan with a few touches of jewel-toned blues and greens? Ivory in the kitchen.
16 years i have been doing this and this is my advice. Go with a neutral color(beige, cream) sofa and use throw pillows that are the color of the carpets. Also you can do window treatments with the fabric of the sofa or use the carpet colr your choice. The kitchen can be anything you wish as it is a seperate room with it's own look. I hope this helps.
stainless steel in the kitchen silver and black accents in the "red rooms" It is kinda last year but I have redone most of my stuff in red
Red carpet is pimpin'. You need a caddy and some gold teeth.
I would immediatley find an area rug to focus on as another large block of color. For that large block of color in the bedroom, you can also match the tone when you select a bedspread.

Area rug tones that would work: gray, beige, or camel tan.

If you go with gray, you can accent with soft blues, blue-gray, or even turqoise. Also, I would lean toward accents in pewter, charcoal, or black. This could easily work with a modern pallette or an Asian theme.
If you go with gray, the kitchen could have highlights of chrome or stainless steel, or for a more traditional look, the classic black and white. For modern, highlight the black and white with touches of one bold color.

If you select the beige or camel-tan, I think I would bring in more light or golden oak wood tones. Also, stick with highlighting natural wood, stone, brass.

If you go with the beige or camel-tan, in the kichen I think I would bring out natural wood, golden tones but highlight with greenery, maybe wine bottles, possibly that warm Tuscan look.

Any color you decide for the area rug -- use the same color in window treatments. That will give you an overall unifying theme and hopefully... that deep red will just lie there and we can all ignore it. lol

Good luck!
different tones of gray and blacks will accent the contrast. Use plenty of light, and plenty of grays to break the brilliance of the burgundy. Then go find yourself an Alabama fan, as burgundy and gray are their colors!
cream and caramel look great with Burgundy, stay away from dark brown and black furniture . pewter and glass looks good and so does oak or light pine furniture if you have no choice and already have dark hardwood or cedar furniture lighten things up with cushions and accessories. keep walls plain with cream or white so that it looks fresh,as the carpet is a statement on its own,try posters or pictures that pick up the red/Burgundy e.g. cream and red flowers, or something striking with a single focal point anything to hazardous will just draw your attention to it, keep furniture lines simple look for anything with stainless steel handles on it.
