What do you think about using a outdoor area rugs to decorate a bathroom?

Question:I don't want to carpet my bathroom that would be too much. But today the outdoor rugs that used to be boring come in some beautiful designs, and of course they are made to stand up to moisture. Do you think this is a good idea?, and if not Why so.

Answers:
Thinking "outside the box" is great. It doesn't matter where the rugs are meant to go originally. What matters if they are appropriate for where you want to put them. Be sure they can be hosed off or washed--in case somebody tosses their cookies, the toilet overflows, etc. They may resist water, but your house is warmer than outside, so find out if they may encourage mold or mildew. Otherwise, go for it.

Thats a great idea
Here's (a portion of) an interesting article :
"Vinyl and linoleum have not been considered stylish since the 1940's but carpeting has attained a certain, sometimes misguided popularity. Although carpets are warm, thick, soft underfoot and ideal for making a room seem cozy and luxurious, keep in mind that they are generally unsuitable for high-traffic areas of children's bathrooms because they are difficult to clean and can easily become waterlogged. If you do choose carpeting, keep in mind that it should be loose-laid so that it can be removed for cleaning. (Also remember that special rubber-backed bathroom carpeting is available)."

I guess I'd be most concerned about what will be under the carpeting. Is it being stripped to put in the carpet or will it go right over the vinyl or whatever? (Every toilet overflows at some point or another.) Multiply water on the floor problems by the number and ages of the people using it.

If you can do it, it can look absolutely great!
