I need suggestions for a patio door window treatment.?

Question:I have a second floor bedroom with a sliding patio door that opens to a small deck. I presently have custom made pinch-pleated one way draw drapes and a sheer on there - for the last 30 years! I am having trouble finding patio drapes that I can afford, (custom made is out of the question price wise!) or that I like the looks of. Does anyone have any other suggestions for a window treatment? I go in and out of this patio door quite a bit in the warmer weather. It is also a west facing window so gets a lot of hot afternoon sun in the summer.

Answers:
My mother has put up mini blinds, one for each section of the door. That way she can screen the sun when inside, have the 1/2 open to access the door, and a uniform look when they are both closed.

You could then put any drape or curtain you wanted to decoration.

The very simplest solution would be to replace the old drapes with some new ones. Buy them in a color that ties in with the room decor, but is different from the previous. If you're bold enough, pick a color that contrasts with the room. It'll highlight the door & get rid of the blahs. Too bad I don't know the main color/colors of the room. Luck!
