Lowe's or Home Depot ' installation services.?

Question:I'm planning to replace my carpet with hardwood floor, and was wondering which of those 2 stores is better. or if you guys have any other stores that provide the installation would like to recommend?

thanks

Answers:
Do not use department stores for services of any kind. Buy materials for a premium price at a high-quality independent flooring store that performs quality work. It will cost two or three times as much but that is ok. It is always worth paying alot more for normal work than a little less for sloppy work.

Lowes... my soon to be husband works there and their service is great. My cousin has been with home depot for 20 years and is treated poorly and they do not care about their customers. Lowes will take care of you and their prices and quality is much better! Good luck to you!!
they would both be equal. I own a business and we have accounts at both. there are many installation services that would be just as good and maybe even cheaper you will have to look in the phone book.
I have had poor service from Home Depot. However several of my friends have had excellent service from Home Expo, the upscale side of Home Depot. I have no experience with Lowes. However their stores seem to be more customer oriented than Home Depot and their prices are competitive.
They both contract out, so you might not get their trained specialists but rather a secondary company. You may have to ask who will be doing the installation and what kind of guarentee they give on those services, etc. And then go with the one that gives the best answer.

Beware: We were going to have Lowes remove our old bathtub and then install another one (no other bathroom work) and they sent a contractor out (not from their store--a seperate company). When the guy was at our house he quoted us around $1,000 which included the price of a new tub and surround, but when we got the quote from Lowes two weeks later it was more than three times that quote and did not include the tub or supplies for a job that would take less than one day of work. I know this because we ended up tearing out the tub and installing the new one ourselves.

So if you are going to go with them insalling do not purchase the flooring until after you get the final quote. You might find that one will offer you a better price than the other and you don;t want to purchase your flooring only to find out that they want an exorborant amount for installation costs.
when you use ether of those stores your also using there products I would advise a sub contractor and a call to the real lumber yard
I seriously would consider not using either one. They use relatively poor quality products and subcontract out their work--so they get a piece & so does the sub (that means higher install prices) and if there is any problem with the work it may be hard to get them to make repairs. I would look around at some of the smaller specialty places (like a carpet/flooring store) that does their own install. Get estimates and often they will compete for the work. Their reputation stands on their service so they are more likely to please & do a good job. ALso, check everyone out in the Better Business Bureau web site.
