Painting wallpaper?
Question:How can i paint over wallpaper so the texture of the wallpaper doesnt show?
Answers:
You can't. Unless you want to re-plaster the wall over the wallpaper... and trust me, you'll hate it and it will be sooooooooooo messy.
Of course you can paint over wallpaper (and if you want to know how, you can email me) but the texture will show thru, no matter what if you just use paint. The only way to get rid of the texture is to cover it with joint compound, prime then paint. But as I said, this is major messy and lots of work. Have you considered just removing the wallpaper? I have a great method that works really easily... if you email me, I'll tell you how to do it...
no- and it is a mess to remove if you try
The paint will make the wallpaper peel, it won't work, and it will be a big mess when it starts falling down.
I have wallpaper covered drywall in my house & painted it with no problems & it looks great. You can't tell there is wallpaper under it. As long as the paper is on well, you can paint over it. All I did was paint 1 coat of primer & 1-2 coats of paint (anything but flat, as it's not washable).
just use a good primer firstly then give it two coats of paint.choose a colour instead of white.depending on if the wallpaper has stripes or has a velvet ornamental pattern on it
you might be able to see this underneath, but it can look quite nice especially in a light caramel or latte colour.
