Question for the crafty and creative people?
Question:I have a small round metal patio table that I would like to do a small mossaic on the table top to put on my balcony. Since I have never tackled anything like this before what materials will I need to do this? Where can I go to get there materials? I don't want to spend a lot on doing this, we have only one real craft store in the city and that is Michaels. I haven't had a chance to go there and look considering I do not know what I am looking for.

home depot has the thinset tile grout that u would need and get a trowel for spreading and a sponge for wiping in diagonal strokes once the tile is in. a great idea 4 the mosiac pieces besides the regular mosiac tile is broken pieces of cobalt blue glass , bits of old ornate china and pottery,etc
If the metal table has any flex to it you may find that your mosaics will pop off in a short time. It could get a little complicated to do since the substrate must be stable to begin with. I don't think you'll have a permanent result on metal as it tends to expand and contract with temperature changes. As an alternative you could put the mosiacs on something cut to the table size as a base and set on top of your table. You can go to Michaels and look for mosaics/kits. I am pretty sure they have them. The staff there can help you select adhesive and grout.
Michaels has a mosaic kit thats specifically for that type of project, and it has everything you need.
