Are above ground pools tacky or are they the "new cool?"?

Question:I have a family of 4. We don't really want a pool because we're not swimmers. We're the kind of people who just like to get in the water and cool off. Would we look like "wannabes" or "tacky" if we went out and got a large above ground pool? It's much less expensive, easier to maintain and much easier to install. Thanks.

Answers:
I have an above ground pool that is 16 feet across, and i can take it apart every fall. I love this pool, because it is the perfect size for a family who, like yours, just likes to go in to cool off. Try google.com and search for a KD (knock down) pool. at www.novacompanies.com
enjoy!

I don't know about the new cool...but from the prices I have seen and how they set up, it seems to be economical for an inexpensive way for a family or a person to cool down in the summer months. Some come with little ladders and they all come with a filtering system.

And there is nothing "tacky" about anyone wanting to be economical this day and age. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You will have fun with your pool and have saved money in the same process.
There is absolutely nothing tacky about an above ground pool. Basically everyone on my street has above ground instead of in ground. If you don't live in a development and have a lot of yard like I do, its probably cheaper, easier and smarter to get an above-ground pool. A pool is a pool. There's nothing to be embarrassed about either. When the time comes for you to cool off, you won't care what type of pool you have.. you'll just be happy to have one.
I hardly ever see in ground pools anymore. Most people do seem to be going the above ground route. I think that they look nicer if you have some sort of deck surrounding it or surrounding a side of it. It just makes a nice entertainment area for guests and gives the illusion that it is at ground level.
Who cares what other people think. You want an above ground pool? Get yourself an above ground pool! If people talk about you then you can contemplate it while relaxing in your new pool.
I was once told of how people in Los Angeles would drive around with their windows rolled up so people thought they had air conditioning in their cars when air conditioning first became available.

Who cares? If it cools you off, why not? And for $300, imagine the amount of fun you will have with your family.

That's what kept me going today with a rented roto-tiller and and bubble level as I was trying to make an 18 ft. flat circle in my sloped yard.
