What color should I paint my living room?

Question:I have tan colored living room set...reclining couch, chair and a half that reclines and a recliner...5 shelf bookshelf in black, a small tv stand that is also black, 2 lamp/end tables (the lamps are attached.)...that are wood and black...sorry no pictures to show ya...I do have one accessory on the wall right now and it's a swag with dusty rose colored roses on it. That can be moved to another room or the hall if need be...my living room isn't big but it isn't very small either...also can you show some links to accessories that go with your color suggestions? THANKS SO MUCH!

Answers:
try this link and i would warm it up a bit with maybe off white walls with tan accents or vice versa, since your furniture is tan i would go with tan as an accent b/c too much brown and tan will not look great.. the website also picks out accent colors for you once you find a main color you like

either like a soft maroon or white
I can't really think of any websites with the room I'm thinking, but I do think white paint would be good, from what I know.
blk.
I noticed in an Ethan Allen commercial a while back that leaving the wall white looks good with black furniture. The splash of color in the advertised room was green. I thought it looked really beautiful! Also, if you want more color, a pale yellow is hot right now.
My living room is a gold color, it's pretty with black. Also Red would be pretty, try Lowes.com they have a color selector online and you can also look at accesories on the website.
I always like it when people have wall colors that coordinate with their artwork. Pick out a piece of artwork to hang on your wall and then pick a color from the piece that you want to highlight and paint your wall that color.
Maybe a dusty pink, a light maroon/red, or an olive or sea green.
i would do an accent wall in red but not a bright tacky red, a little darker one and the rest of the walls a warmer, neutral color. for design ideas and tips i like hgtv.com. i watch a lot of hgtv also. if you have a fireplace, i would do the accent wall where the fireplace is to make it stand out more.
I say go for a nice summer color like peach or light yellow to brighten the room and make your furniture look more lively.
Try shermanwilliams.com...under the homeowners section they have this link to lauch color visualizer, from there you can select indoor or outdoor options- the indoors have different layouts of various rooms in a house that you can paint and see how it would look in your home, you can also change the color of the furniture to get the exact look that you want
You've got all neutral colors so pretty much anything will look nice. Find a color you like and go with it.
depends on the style you like--victorian, asian, country, modern. You have a good start--tan and black. Good basic colors that will go with any style you like.. First what is your fav. color and what colors of clothes do you see in your clothes closet. This will give you a clue what color makes you feel good and comfy. The swag sounded like country? Maybe move it to the bedroom. I would use a colour two shades brighter or dimmer than the furniture. Then use bright colors to accesorize. and you can change these up when you get tired of them or season to season. I am thinking a shade of tan-maybe RYE or WHEAT color.Print our photos you like either in color or black and white and frame in inexpensive black frames. Try to keep everything in scale. Best of luck. sorry, I don't have any links. Please email me with what you decide. I love decorating and would love to see what you do. Sincerely, Belinda
The hottest colors right now are tans/browns with a faded aqua or pale olive. The black is a great accent. Check out Restoration Hardware at restorationhardware.com for inspiration. The items are pricey but the look is stunning! Also try potterybarn.com and grandinroad.com. And the great thing is you can find this look EVERYWHERE at any price.
I would paint it a warm creamy neutral and accessorize with fresh white flowers in an almost black vase and and modern black and white prints on the walls.
you should visit sherwin williams.com and you could play with tons of color ideas.
Lowes hardware sells a cd for approx $6 that will help you with this, you cna change the color of your walls.
