AVOID the Goodwill...it is not a charity whatsoever and is privately owned. The owners name is William - I've met him and been to his $20 million + home in Bel Air. They have non-profit classification which only requires 11% of profit to be donated (which they donate to their training programs for their own workers - calling it job skills training and placement). They hire unskilled laborers, parolees, recovering drug addicts and the previously unemployable and pay them minimum wage for part-time work to avoid providing benefits - that is the charity. And all the merchandise is donated! Will was thinking the day he started that company, eh? Good Will!
There is a website called freecycle.org. It is for giving away or things that are good that can be useful to someone else. If they are not operating in your area , I would try a Goodwill type of organization that will pick it up and resell it.
