What is better for a small kitchen? Hardwood or laminate.?
Question:Right now there is carpet in there, which will not work. Any suggestions appriciated!
Answers:
I recommend laminate, easy to install, easy to replace, and cheap..
Tile is the best bet, but its expensive... and anything that will stain your shirt, will stain a tile floor.
go with laminate, a cheap brand that I love, and will use in any house I own is Quik-Step so easy to repair, I just use windex to clean it, have had it in my home for 4 years, and still looks brand new
I would say to add value to the kitchen you need to go with hardwood floors. You could also go with tile.
~They have laminate harwood floors that look very nice too.
laminate is easier to clean if you spill on the floor.
I have had both and I personally prefer laminate. Hardwood is more difficult to clean and needs to be properly maintained and waxed, etc. Laminate you just sweep and mop and it's clean. There is less worry about scratches and mold among other weird things with wood. Wood can create a really warm look though if you're trying to match your decor. Good luck!
Laminate is easier and cheaper but hard wood is more durable and can hold up better in a kitchen with all the times it will need to be cleaned.Other options to consider. Ceramic tile, vinyl. Vinyl is the easiest and cheapest to install. Laminated flooring will warp and come apart at the seams when water sits on it to long.Be careful
Laminate is always preferred for a kitchen. Formica laminate products are water submersion tested and can withstand days of water. Also, laminate products can be patch repaired. Real wood products will swell with water damage and the entire floor has to be replaced.
Either will definately be better than the carpet!! :) Who ever thought that was a good idea?!?
With the amount of water and foot traffic in a kitchen you should really go with laminate.
Also with the amount of sticky food handled here you will be able to mop without being worried.
With hardwood if water is left long it can cause warping.
It really comes down to how long you want to have the floor and how much wear and tear you may have.
If you have young children who like to pull your pots and pans out to play the drums :).. Go with laminate ;)
Ceramic tiles are better.
