What is the most appropriate color to paint a room with a multi-colored decoration?

I have a room with lots of color and the walls are a little darker than cream.
White or light colored I would think so it's not too overpowering...

White, off white, beige, egg shell, etc.. or you could pick one of the most dominate colors in your decoration and paint your walls that and it would blend in quite well with matching wall colors for your lights, lamps, bed, blankets, maybe even carpet. I hope you get the idea and Happy Painting!
one colour i find that seems to go well with all kinds of colour is( linen by benjamin moore ) it goes with red green and quite a few colours check it out
it all depends on the type of colors you are putting in the room , of course light colors will bring out the colorfulness but you can also split the wall color, and do half walls, top color a light and a darker on the bottom, trim in the center, it make the room look fancier,
any neutral color would be fine, as suggested by others, you could also pick one of the multi colors and run with that or a shade of it..
This is impossible for me to answer. Multiclored could literally mean millions of combinations of colors. There is no "appropriate" color to even consider.
