What do you think would be a fair price for 2 men laying laminate flooring?

Question:this would be for 2 bedrooms, a lounge and a hallway

Answers:
Depends on the size of the rooms and how much furniture has to be moved and whether or not you want the skirting boards lifted and re-fitted.

Laying the laminate is easy it's the furniture moving and skirting boards that take the time.

The going rate in my area for skilled tradesmen (not amateur DIYers) would be £500 for the work you mention.

A cup of tea and a bacon sarnie!

Well, that's all I paid for mine!
It all depends on how big the area is and how many intricate cuts have to be made - to be honest I did my lounge which is 18' x 13' in under a day - but I did it myself.

Then I did a bedroom and kitchen floor in another day - cost of hiring someone to do it could vary immensely - you'd be better off getting two or three quotes for the work before deciding.

It's not difficult to do and a competent DIYer could probably do all that in a couple of days maximum
Not including materials they will probably will charge £150 a day each. if rooms have furniture allow 3 days = £900 labour
It depends on the size of the rooms, how long it would take.
Maybe £40 a room and £80 for the hall.
It will look great when your done.
Your best bet would be to ring your local flooring stores, with your measurements, and get an estimate of cost. If you know the price of the laminate, and the glue etc, and get an estimation, this will give you an idea. Be careful.Laminated flooring requires skill to lay it. Don't get a couple of Cowboys.Good Luck!
As a very rough guide you should be looking at about £15 per hour per man, labour only. You don't give the size of the rooms, but for an average UK house and supposing the rooms are clear this should take about a day. Agree a price before work starts and try to avoid paying by the day (Daywork) Somehow it always seem to take a little longer that way.
As always, get several quotes and try to get recommendation of family and friends.
Remember that the cheapest may not be the best.
Good luck.
they should be charging you...
if you knew how much sq. ft. they were laying it would be easier.. but a fair price where I live is $1.00 a sq. ft.
doesnt seem like much, but if you can lay 1000 ft. a day then it adds up

if they arent professionals, and they are using an instruction manual to install it, be sure to keep it no more than 1/8" from the wall, for heat expansion.. if you have any questions about it, email me king_style69@yahoo.com
Labor for laminate (or wood)is $5 sq ft. Moving furniture is extra, as is R & R (removing and replacing) baseboard.

Furniture is $25 per piece, and baseboard is .50 cents a linear ft.

I'm an interior designer and that's what my crew makes when I do a house.
£150 pound would be a fair price it should only take a couple of hours to lay that works out at £35 an hour for each man that's a fair price
its not the size so much but the awkward bits ...IE doorways (that's why a small hall can take as long to do as a lounge ).
just to lay .2-days.the brains on ..£120 per day ...And £80 per day his mate..so £400...This will not include being a removal firm and moving furniture about and taking up existing floor coverings.....
.hi their
it would be the same as the price you paid for flooring maybe an extra £50 on top as this covers material if spoilt.
laminate flooring is easy to lay if your into d.i.y good luck
Floor laying for laminate floors is about £50 per every 4yards x 4 yards.. in other words every 4 square yards. I fit floors and this is average cost. It is not your concern how many men chooses to do it..you pay for the job, and the price is per floor not per man.
Go on the daily rate of around £120 per man. Ask how long they will take and get a fixed price on that basis. I would say at least 1 weeks work so around the £1000 would seem the right figure.
Depends on size of the room. Easy way to work it out is £20 a pack
The flooring installers that work for the stores charge anywhere from $4-$5 /sq ft
Summing up then, you are looking at between, tea & sandwiches, & £1000, Good luck :) :)
Check with your local home depot or menards. I had my pergo installed by the home depot and I think I paid $1.99 per sq ft. The installation came with a 15 year warranty and they did a wonderful job.
No regrets.
depending on the sq footage they usually charge about equal per ft as what you pay for the laminate
This man on his own charges £8 per square metre, would take me 2 days
check out your local carpenters, get three quotes then work out how much it would cost you to pay them and buy materials, then go to local carpet stores they offer free fitting if you buy the flooring from them, then compare the two. my hubby a builder and his mate is a chippie and hubby pays him £170 quid a day for his work but in saying that he would have it done in a day and a half tops, so two guys it should be half the time and dont pay top money for a couple of your mates to stick it down, mates should do it for a bacon sarnie and a steady stream of hot tea! do your homework and dont always go for the cheapest option, do the best your budget will allow
400 pound a day minimum!
