How would I paint stripes onto bedroom walls?
Question:Do I use painters tap and tape off the stripes and paint the background color first then paint the stripes and if so how would I prevent the color from getting onto the background or vise versa.
Or should I tape off the stripes, paint them then remove the tape and place tape over the sides of the stripe when painting the background color?
Does that make sense? I am new to painting the walls inside my house.

The only thing I want to add to this is this: Stop worrying so much! You'll do fine. And keep in mind that it's only paint, so if you don't like it, you can paint right over it again! Have fun with it...

This is what I was told to do, but you should wait a few days after painting the first stripes because the tape might take the paint off if it hasn't had a few days to set. Good luck!
The way I've always seen it done is: You paint your background color first, and let it dry completely. You would then mask off your stripes (Ask your home improvement store which tape to use, as something too adhesive would remove paint) making very sure to get a good seal between the tape and your wall to prevent "bleeding." and paint your stripe color. Voila - stripes! ;)
