Has anyone ever tried dressing up plain kitchen cabinet doors with some wood molding?

Question:My cabinet doors are larger than standard size (home built in '75) and they are simple and flat. The cost of new doors or refacing is out of the question and I was considering the possiblity of using some wood trim to dress up the edges of the cabinet doors. So far I've found nothing on the internet to suggest that this has been done and I was wondering if anyone else had tried this technique and what they thought?

Answers:
I bought some molding from an affordable online shop to dress-up my kitchen cabinets. This was sort of new territory for me but the place where I purchased the molding had some great online installation tutorials. They might be able to help you out as well.

It'll look cheap, like you couldn't afford new cabinets and tried to do it yourself.
yes actually my fiance did it to our cabinets..the items he says are a must have are: a good compund miter saw, good measurements, a brad nailer or small nail gun, and paint. It was very time consuming but ended up looking professional.
I had the same problem, Only i did some stenciling on them. Came out beautiful and everyone thought I got new cabinets.. I know what you mean to have to replace the old ones so Good Luck!
not not does NOT have a clue! If you pay attention to detail, it will look professionally custom (big bucks item).
