A colour for my kitchen?
Question:My new kitchen has birch cabinets, a slate floors and counter top and green glass back splash. Currently the walls are white but I'd like to warm them up a little. Any suggestions for colours I could look at?
Answers:
butter is a nice color. Mmmm, and a nice flavor.
I've seen some beautiful palepalepale greeny whites, with a little pale gold dashed in.
A greenish color!
depending on the color of the slate. if it's a greyish color like slate usually is it'll be kinda difficult to really liven it up. if slate is different color then you'll have options. my experience is you can never go wrong with a white kitchen. it'll match anything and regardless of the color you choose it's always going to be the busiest and dirtiest room in the house. keeping it bright will always enhance it no matter what.
Hershfieilds has some great color choices...Try Crown Point Sand...or North Hampton Putty.they are in the Historical Colors...HC...they have samples of these colours to buy...Have fun what you have described so far is a Beautiful Kitchen..
It depends on the look you want. Get some color cards of every paint color that catches your eye. Compare them with the slate, glass tile, and cabinets. If you want your birch cabinets to "pop" you might choose a darker color. If you want something that is monotone, then choose a color that blends in with your cabinetry. Choose several different colors that appeal to you. Most paint stores sell small samples of paint which you can paint on your wall and see how it looks in different light. No matter what, if you like it, then it will work.
To have complete color harmony in any room, you need to have 3 colors: 1 dominant (the walls) 1 medium (the trim, molding, cabients, etc.) and 1 accent color (decorative objects). As for what color to choose, you need to keep in mind what direction the room is facing. If the room is facing south and you use a warm color (such as orange, red, yellow), you may find that in the summer months, your room is just too warm. If the room is facing north and you use a cold color (such as blue, violet) you'll find that in the winter, your room is freezing. Color plays a big part in how you feel in a room.
You didn't say what color the slate was but I have a feeling it leans towards dark green. Here are a couple of links that will help you to warm up those walls:

Browse on thru... you'll find something you like. And keep in mind that you should always choose a paint color that has two names (such as subtle jade) instead of a single name paint (like jade). Double paint names signify that the paint is a complexe color and not a simple one, which means the quality of the color is much better and will look great!
Enjoy your new kitchen!
