Should I lay a carpet with a felt back or a hard back?

Question:On top of floor boards in a bedroom (15sqm)
What are the downsides to using felt backs? Is it a cheap horrible way to do things?

Answers:
felt back is cheaper, and is more work if you ever have to replace it. I've never found it to be as comfortable to walk on as hard back either.
