Assuming you mean decoration themes, I think it's wise to stay away from the obvious nautical theme. Go for a rustic look, like jute or sisal rugs, earthy linen drapes. Shades of cream, off white and honey mixed in with crisp white. Use color sparingly as accent and even then use a shell and soft version of the color (a shell pink rather than fushia).

I would go shabby chic all the way , with hints of beach , some shells and glass bottles , but not overdone..maybe in the bathroom , or guest room. A lot of copper in the kitchen , clean white bathrooms , and darker more warm bedrooms.
well when i think of lake house i think of, of course the lake and the warm and cozyness of a lake house. use colors like light aqua, light green, light olive green, and maybe a light rustic orange (anything but white). another thing is to accessorize alot to give it a personal touch. only in the bathrooms do a aquatic theme. in the kitchen go for a modern look.
You could go with a beach theme. Take pictures of around the lake print them out or enlarge them and frame them. A great arrangement is to get a large clear glass vase, add sand, rocks etc with a candle in the middle. Get creative and use things from your environment. Use colors that you see around the lake and consider using things that will stand up to wear since there is usually a lot of indoor outdoor traffic when your on the lake.
