This is a tilesetter's forum. Either you can research it there or post a question and have them walk you thru it.
Keep in mind that you must keep the tile square to the room. Nothing looks worse than having a full diagonal tile fade down to 3/4 of a diagonal tile at the other end of a wall.
a 12x12 tile measures 16.97" on the diagonal, that'll help you layout the floor.

I did my bathroom with diagonal tiles and it looks nice. I did a square half tile boarder against two walls then started tiling by cutting the tiles in half across the diagonal. My calculations were a bit off about where I was going to finish, but it didn't really matter, I just finished up with tiles on the opposite sides with half diagonal tiles and finished with a square boarder cut to fit the remaining space. I find an electric wet saw is the best way to cut tiles - you can even cut them into L shapes for doing corners.
