Freezerless refrigerator with chest freezer, chic or lame?
Question:We need a new fridge and was thinking about a freezerless fridge with a chest freezer. Would that be too much clutter in the kitchen? Would that be modern looking, or kind of lame? People usually keep those chest freezers in the garage right? We really can't afford one of those big, deluxe $3000 new fridges. We were thinking this might be an acceptable cheaper alternative. Thoughts?

I am in the process of building A house right now that I designed . I am doing something similar to what you are thinking about, my reasoning is that for my family the refrigerator is the most used and our old (expensive side by side frig/frzr )did not provide enough room for food after we put in the bottled water & soda condiments, etc.
so in the kitchen we have A large glass door(so no energy wasted by opening door to look inside) fridge only and the upright utility type freezer is in the pantry off the kitchen. but could just as well be put in A garage neer the kitchen as you do not get into the freezer near as often as the fridge.
Note: we bought the glass door fridge at A used commercial resturant supply place and paid only $ 300. for it . it looks great and its original price was $4700. and it is only 2 years old (still under warrt.)
I dont know anyone who buys a fridge based on being chic.. you should buy to suit your needs not anyone elses.
You shouldn't be concerned with chicness when it comes to appliances. You should be concerned with what's best and most practical for you and your family.
sounds like a waste of resourse/energy. unless you already have, or have the need for the big deep freeze type in the garage that would double as your "every day" freezer.
