Paint!! Unless you are wall papering a house from 1986.
Wallpapers
get the walls prepared then paint :::::::::::: easy to change decor , and you can see whats required next time .instead of masking over ::!
Depends really, if your house is modern and has lots of space then i would recommend paint, if its like old fashioned and small then wallpaper would look best! Stick to lighter colours either way, i mean if you can, if you have to go with dark then choose carefully, a nice cream would be nice! Makes the room feel bigger as well and more modern!
Paint.
Wallpaper is for old people.
I'm old school, but I love to paper. Everyone can paint, but with some of the papers out today it adds a touch of class.
Definitely paint.it's easier when the time comes to re-decorate and there's so many types and textures available now...
I have suede paint in my lounge and it gives a lovely two tone affect!

ALWAYS GO WITH PAINT. Paint is easy to apply and change. I worked at Lowe's for 4 years and customers including myself hated wallpaper. I had so many problems with people trying to take wallpaper down. It really is not worth it. You can do faux finishes that in some cases even look better than wallpaper and are more durable.
If you ever get sick of the wallpaper it is very hard to change where paint is simple. If you must have wallpaper choose small area's light a powder room etc
Paint ! wallpaper is kinda out right now, people today are using bolder color, Plus if you ever change it wallpaper is a hassle to get down. If your looking for more than a solid color try Faux finishing or sueding your walls..
If you have ever had to remove old wallpaper, you know that the answer is PAINT! I am of the opinion that only the person who puts the wallpaper up will like it-- VERY rarely do I go into someone else's home and admire their wallpaper choices. On the other hand, a great color of paint can make a room really stand out...and it's so much easier to change it later on as your taste/style changes. Especially if you ever plan to sell your home, go with paint.
Why not have both? Most of the walls in a paint finish but maybe the feature wall, ie the fireplace wall, in a toning paper. If you live in an old house, victorian or georgian for example, you could do the lower part of the walls in paper and the rest in paint, it helps to lower the height of very high ceilings. There are some amazing papers out now, very broad range to choose from, but remember that the better quality the paper, the better the finish. So be prepared to pay more, and make sure you know how to apply the paper!
Oh, paint's best, no question. Wallpaper gets dirty and marks easily, and it's as hard to take off as it is to put up. And if it's printed, you soon get tired of it. What looks ok in the swatch book soon gets old on the walls! It's a lot easier to slap 2-3 coats of a different paint over a mistake, than to scrape walls and what have you and then have the work of papering again.
Also, figured wallpapers can make a room look smaller! If you must, paper only one wall. Then it's easily changed.
But I would never have wallpaper. It's too expensive, too much work, and doesn't last.
if your walls are in a bad condition put thick lining paper grade 1200 on them and emulsion that. this looks good, exactly if not better than having walls skimmed
i think paper it makes a place more warmer, plain paint all in one colour makes a room look boring, unless you are going to use lots of accessories.
wallpaper it can cover any unwanted marks or slight holes, and if you dont like it paint over it,also it insulates your walls
PAINT !! If you look in any home decorating magazine, you will not see any wallpaper. PAINT is in, and wallpaper is pretty much out.
paint paint paint!!!
no matter what the condition or the age its soooo much nicer lots of work to get the walls smooth or cost getting a good plasterer to re skim the walls my 16th century cottage has no paper so age DOESN'T count!
PAINT!
