What are the pros and cons of indoor versus outdoor spas?

Question:

Answers:
Indoors: convenient; but smelly, noisey, humid...and ugly unless in ground (and difficult to service in the ground plus $$$$ install). problem if they leak, how are you going to drain it to clean it? If wood, smell of oiling the wood or staining every few years.

Outdoors: nice to be outside and let the fumes (ozone and any chemical) pass away into the sky, watch the stars or snow fall on your head, inconvenient unless right by bedroom door, animals can get under and chew your wires.a quick death for them and yet another service call, easier to clean outside, leaks aren't an immediate crisis, question of privacy, sun damage/hail damage to cover, need to stain the wood portions more often. Noise of pumps, filters isn't a bother outside.

the weather is a good one. what you plan on doing in it and a privacy fence is another consideration. the plumbing would be easier outdoors, as would be setting the spa. you wouldnt have to rip up a floor. if your in a warm climate, an above ground would be the best, and the cheapest. if outdoors, you might consider a small swimming pool. they can be set up like a spa, but would increase the value of your home.
Hi, We haven't had an outdoor spa, but I can tell you about the indoor one. At least ours. It's very nice at first. The water is hot, it has lenses that change the color of it. It's warm, and steamy, nice and toasty. Then you need to continually add chemicals to it. That of course, causes the so -called stainless steal handrails, and anything else thats supposed to be stainless,to rust. It also goes up into the steam that the spa emmits.(The chemicals do) Than the windows start getting icky. Ours where made of plexi-glass, and that scratches. So, we now have a indoor spa, with rusty handrails, scratched windows, and ,What's next ? The Red wood building that surrounds it, starts warpping! It gets so warped, the roof falls into the spa! Now , you say, whats next? We get unwanted pets ! A bonus? I don't think so... we have to call in the city's verman control unit, to rid our little spa of at least 20 big fat rat famileys that have chewed their way under, and up into the actual spa its self, and they brought their own pets, fleas, and spiders! That must be all? Shurley you jest! Along with the insulation in the spa, the Rats ate threw all the Hoses, wires, heating elements, I don't know what else! Sounds like I'm a very very Dirty Person.Right? Wrong! I'm the cleanest person I know! I'll follow you around the house with a broom, vaccume, and a damp rag! No, Dirty I am not. Another Spa? I don't think so. Well thats my imput on it. I hope that helps your decision. Bye
