How long do I have to wait after new paint is applied before moving in?

Question:I'm concerned about the off-gassing of toxic chemicals since I have a toddler.

Answers:
Most water-based paints nowadays are either odourless or with a very pleasant odour and you don't have to wait to move in. However, if you has used oil based paints, then it'll be best to air out the room with assisted ventilation like fans and stuff. As to how long, that's pretty subjective. So long as you enter the room and you don't have the uncomfortable feel with the smell, then its fine.

I've painted with water-based paints that have very pleasant odours and loved the smell of it so I moved in immediately the same night. I've also used oil-based paints in the toilets where the smell has lingered for 2 weeks and i still found it unbearable but my wife was okay with it after only a week or so. So, its very subjective.

I'd say keep the windows open and wait a day or two and then start moving in unless the humidity is up then it may take longer for it to all air out.
iF YOU CAN LEAVE THE WINDOWS OPEN TO DRY THE PAINT DO SO, YOUR SUPPOSED TO OPEN THE WINDOWS ANYWAY SO THEY DONT DRY SHUT WITHIN 24 HOURS,..RUN A FAN IF YOU DONT HAVE ANY DUST THATS GONNA FLY UP ON THE PAINT TO SPED THE PROCESS 48 HOURS DOING THIS AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE
Depends on what kind of paint you use. Some are a lot less toxic. Within 5 to 7 days most out gassing is complete so long as the room is well ventilated.
depends on the capacity of the paint you're using - the whole room or just small part of it -
anyway, give yourself another 1-2 days before you start settle inside -

other ideas, put some charcoal inside to absorb the smell. pineaaple also work too- cut them through
If you used latex(water based) paint there is no waiting needed. Any that I have used in my renovation business give off as nice fresh smell. I refuse to use oil based paints other than on metal and it has to be exterior metal. With the improvements they have made in latex paint it is not as good as or better than oil paints.
