You might want to use a lacquer that is especially made for masonry . There is a product called Colac, also a product called Wet Look. You can apply with a brush and usually need 2 coats. You can also use sheep skin applicator (depending on how smooth the surface is) , a pole and a tray so you won't kill you knees and back. Make sure you have rags handy for excess and puddling. And ware gloves and a organic vapor mask. These chemicals are pretty bad for your brian cells , liver and kidneys. Good luck.
Yiu can use a pump up garden spray, or you can use those cheap disposable brushes you find in Lowes or depot. Depending on the type of laquer, you might also use a sponge brush, this eliminates brush marks, opr just use a sponge.
