We are getting ready to remodel our home to sell. Which is better-hardwood floors or ceramic tile?
Question:We are going to put ceramic in the bathrooms and utility room, but trying to decide if we should put hardwood or ceramic in the living, dining and kitchen as well. We are going to put one or the other in these rooms, but don't know which one is better (more appealing for buyers).

It's pretty unanimous with the realtors...hardwood will sell a house...ceramic won't. I agree with you on putting the ceramic in the bath and utility room. I might even put it in the kitchen if you have a lot of traffic. But for the main rooms, definitely go wood.
Hardwood is much more appealing. It goes better with whatever color the potential home buyer wants to use in the house. Plus ceramic all throughout the house gives it a cold feeling. Go with hardwood. You can never go wrong with hardwood.
Hardwood floors will make the house sell for more.
Use hardwood, historically, hardwood had been an important part of designing styles through the years, in consequence is more "socially" accepted, and it will be more easy for the future home owners to match it with their interior design style. In addition, you have to think about use hardwood laminated floors or parquet, in my case I will use hardwood laminated floors, because is cheaper and you can get amazing results. On the other hand, parquet designs even they are more expensive, they gives more classy style to the house. Nowadays the tendency is to use light colors in the hardwood in contrast to 20 years ago when dark colors were hip.
Do cork floors - they are wood, come from Cork trees - which is a renewable resource. The cost is comparable with hardwood and the installation is much easier.
It is a great diy project and you can do a whole house in about 4 days.
Go with the hardwood ! In looking at lots of real estate ads . Most place special emphasis on homes featuring hardwood flooring not ceramic ! Hardwood impresses ... ceramic in rooms other than a kitchen or bath is cold feeling.
hardwood on the floors and paint a neutral color on the walls something that will go with any furniture
