I am replacing lenolium floor in "very" small bathroom. What should I go back with instead of ceramic?
Question:I would like something with maybe a pattern but don't know what type of flooring to put down to make room look larger.
Answers:
There are interlocking "faux tile" laminate squares that look exactly like ceramic tile. Right down to the grout. Easy to clean, easy to install and available in more variety than ceramic tile.
Flooring stores have them, also Home Depot & Lowe's have a sampling.
I don't recommend ceramic tile for anyone - bad for arthritis or back sufferers, subject to shifting, difficult to keep clean and slippery when wet. The faux tiles have none of these but look exactly like tile.
I have slate in my bathroom. It is so attractive that people look at the striking colors and comment on it.
For a small bath, a single sheet of vinyl flooring is usually the best remedy. Use a light color to make the room appear larger.
We replaced an old, ugly ceramic floor in a very small bathroom with sheet vinyl. It could NOT have been easier to install and looked great when we were done. Go with a light color, something with plenty of white or cream in it. The lighter the colors, the more it will open up the room. Look at the remnant section of the sheet vinyl at a home improvement store. We bought ours as a remnant (the bathroom floor at the time was 5 foot by 5 foot) for $20 I think.
White ceramic tile. Continue it up the walls about waist high. Then add a big mirror or mirrored wall.
go with a light colored tile.there are many different types
really pretty stone tile. I love really pretty stone tile.
Try Konecto Flooring. Google the word "Konecto" and it will tell you more about it. It's a floating type of flooring, not water resistant, but water PROOF. Very easy to install. Soft surface and beautiful woodlike feel and colors. I am a floor refinisher and installer and am about to install this in my kitchen and bath. It's beautiful and tough.
