I have a red carpet in my hall what colour should i paint the walls?
Question:
Answers:
Because it is a hallway, I would recommend a color in the khaki or tan family. However, a gold (not shiny tacky gold) would go great with the red and enhance the natural sunlight during the day and aide the homes lighting during the night.
I recommend Benjamin Moore: Princeton Gold HC-14 or Waterbury Cream HC-31.
What are your accent pieces? I recommend a vanilla or deep off white. Too much color will "enclose" the space, looking narrow. And no amount of mirrors will help. Also sand color or textured paint might look nice.
A light aqua-green looks amazing with red..think of the red
coral and turquoise green combination found in American
Indian jewlery. With these two colors, you'll need an accent
trim around any moldings or doorways.you might use
a deep shiney black (oil based enamel for this), and use
some red to bring the color of the rug up in a small stripe
on top of the black. Any frames that you use on the walls
should be painted with the black enamel also.
I agree, I think a nice off-white or beige would look nice.
I also have to agree with a beige or creamy vanilla.
Well I think it may depend on they color of red. If it's a deep red/burgundy/sangria color then a tan/beige or mustard type color is nice. India-type color scheme with a deep purple or olive green to accent. If it's a bright clown nose type red then I would agree with the white. Maybe heading towards a nautical theme with navy blue.
.use ivory paint it will look nice and it will widen the area.
a mocha or taupe/sandy (not yellow) color. it will not overwhelm, and will contrast and compliment the red.
