Building a Deck?

Question:I would like to know how complicated and costly to build a 128 square foot deck? I am a newbie when it comes to home renos and my wife is giving me the gears to get going. We have a condo townhome and would like to get some help.

Thanks,

It would be a good thing if you have some basic carpentry skills to start, and tools. You could always borrow a saw if you don't have one. I recommend purchasing a book on building decks, you can find these at home depot, Lowe's etc. or you could get one from the library I would buy one. If you read one of these books you will see what kind of tools and things you are going to need and what else you will be getting yourself into. If you have no building skills or experience in this sort of thing I highly recommend asking a friend or family or neighbor or someone who is a carpenter for help. At least for your layouts, a deck is quite simple to do but can be very complicated if you aren't familiar with how houses are built and how they shed water etc. So if you are fairly handy it can be done with little to no help. If your handy skills are slim to none, hire someone who does it every day and you will save yourself alot more than the money you would save doing it yourself.
