Somewhat depends upon which special tool you are looking for, but any store that sells hardwood should have most tools for sale or rent. Some will let you borrow tools if you buy flooring from them. Tool rental companies usually have flooring tools as well, sometimes they will sell used.

lowe's has a hardwood floor nailer that works for 3/4" hardwood and the nails for it. if you are putting down any thinner wood you may need to use some spacers at the bottom so thAT THE NAIL STRIKES AT THE TOP OF THE TONGUE OF THE PLANKS. GOOD LUCK, YOU CAN ALSO RENT A NEUMATIC NAILER AT A TOOL RENTAL STORE
