What paint should i use?
Question:i need to find out what paint i can use to paint a picture on my daughters wall. i have been told that some paints peel or crack when it dries on a wall. Would acrylic be ok? if not what paint and where can i buy it from.
Answers:
i am a decorator by trade & my advice is 2 use water based paints like emulsion etc!! oil based paints are more hard wearing but a lot more work when u come 2 paint over them at some stage!! u can also coat your picture with a matt finish water based varnish this will keep it like new 4 years & is easily painted over if required. hope that helps take care.
Depends what the surface is like.
Is it bare plaster or is there a paper on it?
If it were me I would have lining paper over the plaster and then use ordinary emulsion paint.
If paper is already on the wall then a couple of coats of undercoat and again use emulsion.
.
Use a Latex based paint just go to a DIY store of deluxe store etc and ask!
U can find the reason here : http://www.bobvila.com/howto_library/sel...
you do not want to do acryllic paint-that is for crafts. for the walls you need something more durable. you should go to lowes and get the little 1/2 pints of paint that they supply there for about $3. It is more expensive but you are doing this work and you are going to want it to last. It needs to be a latex based paint, do not get oil.
I painted a mural on my sons wall, huge! just bought sample pots of emulsion. Its available in an enormous range of colours, some very bright, so you can just mix any colour you need. Non toxic, doesn't peel off, and washes down.
i suggest you use the small tester pots of emulsion you can get from most diy shops they usually come with there own little brush in the lid and are pretty cheap
