I need some bathroom decorating help?
Question:i am moving to a new apartment tommorow and the bathroom isbutter yellow (ugh) i mean the floor tiles and everything, what can i do to make it less yellow? what colors would go good? other than white
Answers:
Try doing some dark blue accents. there are curtains at walmart that have a celestial theme and that would actually tone down the yellow. of course i LOVE duckies so i would love the yellow bathroom lol cause that would fit in perfectly with my theme. anyhoo accent with darker colors that would tone down the yellow, if not you can always ask the apartment manager if you can repaint the walls. they will either tell you no or you can but before you move out you have to paint it back to the original color. hope this helps.
I don't know what the landlord will allow, but I have found that a dark chocolate brown looks very nice with butter yellow -- as long as its not "caution sign" yellow, a muted yellow looks nice with some shades of brown or even some greens. Good luck, and remember to check first with your landlord... you don't want him take your deposit when you move.
yellow is a tough color to tone down...
basic color theory is that purple is yellow's compliment color, and green and orange are it's neighbor colors.
If you complimented the yellow with some springy bright blues, greens and purples with hints of orange, I think it wouldn't look too bad at all, and if you did it in ways that you really enjoy, then you'll probably grow to not mind the yellow as much.
I suggest a spring theme of some sort, like flowers, duckies, sky blue and clouds, something like that.
Here's some accent ideas you might like:
- a glass jar filled with colorful glass stones
- fake Gerber daisies in a nice vase
- rubber duckies (more yellow unless you get a different colored one)
- a shower curtain and matching bath mat and towels with your chosen theme. I think blue with clouds, or more Gerber daisies.
- hang a framed photo or painting print again follow your color theme, perhaps a dark purple frame?
hope that gave you some ideas. my suggestions here are somewhat cliche, but I'm sure you could extrapolate from that.
Different shades of green and accent with other spring colors. Hang towels on the towel bar with hand towels over , find some big chunky napkin rings that match and put them on the hand towels. It really classes up the room. Pictures on the walls really tone down the color also.
