1940's black and white room design...?

Question:I'm a college student who recently bought a house and I want to design my room in a 1940's black and white Hollywood glamor theme. I want white walls and black furniture accented with black and white photos of Hollywood starlets. Does anyone have any other ideas, such as an accent color, that would help to pull the look together?

Answers:
for a 1940's look you need more muted colours, some good choices would be gold, blue, warm green or olive or really muted orange or mauve.
look at some 1940's interior pictures to see what I mean.
also a really good colour for that look would be pink but again muted.
To go with a colour that "pops" is way too 2000's, the key is 1940's right?

Red, true red, not orange red, should be the perfect accent color. I would also use high gloss paint rather than flat or semi-gloss for the glamour effect.
Sounds different. Accent colours that go with your colour scheme are Bright Red, Lemon, lime Green. I would try get a suitable print for walls that might incorporate accent colour. One that comes to mind is a Bullfight Poster.I might go for a throw for the couch or bed, and add maybe a cushion or two in the accent colour. Also possibly a table lamp. And some ornaments. You don't say what room,so makes it kinda diffulcult. But sounds a bit different. Good Luck!
