Hi

As the second gentleman indicated, paint will not stay on the slick plasic surface of most common PVC based garden hose. Even if it did, the flexing action that occurs when using the hose would quickly cause the paint to crack and then peel off.

The suggestion that you get a new hose will be the BEST solution.

The "Cadillac" brand of Garden Hose is SWAN.
Check out their wbepage it has photos of the various hoses.

I believe the lighter color on much of the hose is to make it intentionally visible on the grass, so that it is less likely to be accidently run over by lawn mowers.

SWAN does have a "Country Club Hose" that might meet your color requirements, but it will be "pricier" as it is a premium product.

Colorite Plastics Company
(a mass market brand owned by the same company that now owns SWAN)

Also has a hose that might be a dark enough green for you.
All-Season Hose

Two other mass market brands, Flexon and Gilmour's Flexogen, both seem to be lighter shades of green as well.

Good Luck

I beleive you would save your effort by just buying a dark green hose. You could probably paint it,but for your time and effort, why not just invest in a dark green hose?
No can do easily.Paint comes off plastic. Advice-change hose.
Paint your hose ?
It's cheaper and far more cost effective to just buy a new one.
Liquid shoe polish, if you can find the color you desire.
p_coladog's idea of shoe polish is an interesting one, however I'd be pretty hesitant if the hose is going to live on your patio or deck or other concrete/wood/stone/brick surfaces. If the hose gets wet, the polish might leech off and stain your hard surfaces. Then, you would have a much bigger mess on your hands.

Save yourself the hassle and go buy a new hose or live with the color. You could also coil it up in a pot to hide it when you are not using it.
You need to invest in a new hose. Send your lime green hose to the Salvation Army. You'll make someones day.
