you can call 6 painters and get 6 quotes for paint job, I just had my house painted and one was a 1000 high and another was over 3000 higher than lowest bidder. ( by the way, they did a good job) SO call a few painters and get some quotes. Ask your neighbor if they know some, or ask some one @ paint store if thet do.
Most painters will charge by the square foot. Rates will vary based on what area you are in.
Additional fees may apply depending on whether or not the painter has to move or cover furniture, the amount of trim work involved, if scaffolding is required, how high are the ceilings are, etc.....

sYou should expect to pay between $1 to $1.50 per room sq ft. So 10 x 12 including ceiling and all trim between $120 and $180 this includes primer and paint one coat of each. However most painters usually have a minimum so be sure to ask. Angieslist.com is a good reference source.
it will probably be somewhere between $400-$600 for a decent paint job. but you should consider doing it-its really not that hard.
