How do i install a regular wood fence on a slight downhill grade.?
Question:What's the best way to set the posts, should i get longer ones as i go down. How do i make sure that i don't make a mistake that's going to haunt me as i start to put up the actual fencing after putting the posts up?
Answers:
I'd vote for following the slope. Less trouble overall and it can look very nice. Blends with nature instead of fighting it. a good example is the mesh fencing they run along the interstate highways, seems the top edge is always about 48" off the ground.
If in doubt just leave the posts long and cut them after setting the panels. Keep the slates on the panel plumb
There are a couple of option depending on the degree of slope...you can have the fence follow the slope, not the post just the slates between them...or stair step the sections...good luck
