First time putting up picture frames.. advice??

Question:I've just painted my recently purchased home and never really thought about putting up picture frames. I'm concern in ruining my walls, whats the best way(s) to put up frames without causing damage to the walls in the long run?

Thanks!

A few rules to remember are:
Hang pictures at eye level - most people hang them way too high
If hanging a grouping, lay them out on the floor and play around with the arrangement until you are happy. Remember you don't have to have all 8 x 10's in one area, 5 x 7's in another etc - mix and match for the best result. Especially with family photos, you may have some 3x 5's and other sizes to fill in "spaces".
It's worth investing $20 or so in buying a laser level but if you don't want to, you can use a regular spirit level and a yard stick. Use the yard stick to measure where each hanger is to go and the spirit level in between rather than marking up your walls with "eye leveled" pencil markings that are off balance. (always use pencil)
Hang the first group (row) and take it from there.just a little math required to add 1/2 the size of the picture frame & the amount you want before the beginning of the next (and 1/2 the size of that picture frame).
If you are hanging a heavy picture (painting for example) you are best to use a screw and plug. If a 50 lb picture hanger is okay, you can just use one that nails in. But anything heavier, you want to protect your walls and use a screw & plug.
Also, I've just seen commercials early Saturday morning for a product that is new and promoted by the same guy that does the "bam" commercials. They are heavy duty hooks that are just pushed into drywall and because they are formed in a 1/2 circle, they grip the back of the wall and secure your items well, leaving only a small hole should you wish to move something. I forget what they are called but they show them holding wooden over the toilet shelves, pot racks, etc as well as pictures. You may want to google to see if you can come up with them.
But good old picture hangers (cheap) worked well at my last place with drywall walls. I'm in a place with plaster now and it's a whole new ballgame.oh for drywall again!!
