I have to decorate my bedroom but am having trouble finding the right colours.?
Question:i'm kinda gothic in nature, but already have a black bedroom (at my mums house) i was thinking about a very deep purple colour but due to the size of the room painting it all this colour would make it seem an extremely small and crowded room. any suggestions what colour i could use alongside a dark purple to try to avoid this while keeping with the gothic theme? and if so how would you do it? i.e 1 purple wall and 3 other colour?
P.s. most of the 1 wall is covered by a window

Deep purple will definitely shrink your small room. To stay with your "gothic" tone, I'd choose a medium gray, olive or teal shade that you could accent with deep purple curtains, bedspread, rug, etc. Check out behr.com and try out different colors on their "preview" pages. Yeah, my bedroom is purple too, i painted two walls opposite each other light purple, (so maybe one wall facing your window?) and the others darker purple it makes it look a bit bigger.
UMM... darker colors make rooms appear smaller, my friends and I really love the bright pinky colors, im not sure about your whole "gothic nature"
if you are going to put a lighter color.. or something to accent it.. put it in a stripe going throught the center of the room. i think 3 stripes parrallel with one another would do it justice it would increase the length of the room and make it seem more wider/longer. i don' tknow what color i would use because if your going gothic i would not use a lighter purple... do what you want. it's your room. and always remember... you are the one that has to look at it.

Well i think you should paint purple only the longest or bigger wall so the room won't look too small ......plus instead of painting the other walls is better if you just put purple curtains and don't do anything to the rest of the walls. play with little purple touches on the decoration .... purple y really energy dragger so have fun with you room ......besos
