What's a good way to separate a washer/dryer from the rest of the room in an unfinished basement?

Question:I'm looking to create a functional room that will have a couch and TV. The walls will still be cement for now, but we're putting down some carpet (nothing too nice, just very basic stuff I'm doing myself) and want to make it feel less like a basement. Any suggestions are welcome.

Answers:
Paint the walls a bright color (white would work great). To divide the rooms, use roll up outdoor shades: I used them in my basement and it did great. Sounds like yours. The basement was painted, but we put down a piece of carpet, hung mini blinds at the windows and put the furniture and tv down there.
We used the roll up shades to divide the basement (we couldn't afford to put up walls). Worked great and looked just fine!

You can get them at walmart, biglots, etc.
Good Luck

You can paint the cement walls for $20/gallon of cement type paint. I would get the primer too...a gallon of primer goes a LONG way on that type of surface. You could put up on of the asian looking dividers...you know the kind they use in movies that people get dressed behind but you can see their shadows. Maybe it is more English...who knows. But, you could do it for under a couple hundred bucks.
