How can I make my room a french/paris theme on a tight budget?
Question:I need some help, my room is kinda small and I can't afford to paint, have any cool ideas? thanks!
Answers:
Get a small table and matching chairs (probably white rought iron) for an outdoor cafe theme. Drape a delicate table cloth over it.
Print out pictures of black and white photography with a french style to it. Frame them and hang them around the room. Or you could group many frames in one area.
you could make/buy a black board and write "menu items" at the top
just some suggestions. Hope it helps :D Happy decorating.
Paint doesn't cost much. If you have a small room, you're probably only looking at a gallon, maybe two. That's like $20-45 or so (plus a brush and roller and paint tray). You can also look for "oops" paint at Home Depot (and other home improvement stores). It's the paint that wasn't tinted quite the right color for whoever asked for it. They sell for like $5/gallon.
Toile is huge in french decor. If you can't afford a lot of it, try making just a few throw pillows or something. You can even use it only on the fronts and a solid on the back.
Painting your furniture a clean white (slightly yellow for warmth) is always nice.
While photos of Paris may not actually be a Parisian look, it may still serve the purpose in your room. Look for a calendar from which you can take pictures or maybe some postcards. Frame them all in matching frames and hang a grouping on your wall.
Pin a feather boa as trim around the bottom of a lampshade for some extra flair.
Find a French saying that you love and freehand or stencil it over your door or write it on a mirror.
This may give you some ideas...

Drape a long piece of fabric above your bed like an inverted "v", by nailing 1 large hook centered above the bed on the wall and the other 2 large hooks on each side of the bed on the wall.
Stencil 'fleur de lis' all over the walls or as a border.
Place a small ottoman or footstool somewhere purchased at a garage sale. Stack a collection of books to use as a table and throw a lil lace on it. Hang a cheap chandelier (dressed up with spray paint and cheap necklaces). Add some gold decor pieces like fancy picture frames, candelabra.
There's this place that has inexpensive oil paintings, and they've got them in all sizes...whenever I've gone there they've had a lot of paris/european themed paintings. It's called Art Gallery Outlet.
