Yes, and it should have a "leather" smell like new shoes or a purse. There should be a tag attached shaped like an animal skin (think zebra skin rug) thats says "genuine leather". It's the official tag from The Leather Institute (or something like that). Don't forget that there are different grades of leather as well. Buying from as reputable store should help in this.
