What kind of paint would be best to use on rubber wellington boots?
Question:I am wanting to decorate a pair of wellington boots and was wondering what kind of paint will work best?
Answers:
Acrylics probably, but they may crack or even peel off after wear & tear. You need something epoxy based that kind melds into the rubber without weakening it. That or a spray on sealant for after the paint has dried.
Oil paints worked on a plastic A0 art folder I decorated once. I daubed on lovely colours then scratched off patterns. It took a while to dry but didn't budge for almost 20yrs!
Tip - just buy a brand new snazzy pair.

Probably car spray paint will stay and not crack but there is no guarantee against cracking or the paint dissolving the rubber.

Marine paint for rubber boats probably.
Rubber wellington boot paint available at all good rubber wellington boot paint shops.Try Yellow Pages.
Any type of paint you fancy, but it will crack when you walk in them, if just for decoration, I'd use ordinary oil or acryilic, have fun and make those wellies really wild.
