I have a 1888 Italianate and Second empire building that I would like to turn into a house.?

Question:What Kind of home design should I look into ? I like the modern contemporary clean line design furnishing and style but still wanna keeps the elegant and the beauty of its old Victorian era architecture, what do you think I should do?

Answers:
Personally I like a good mix of modern contemporary with classic inspirations. One way to go is to use a classic color pallet with sleek modern pieces. Or the other way around, really classic furniture in really modern colors. Damasks and arts and crafts florals are really in again and look great mixed with modern furniture. Go to sherwin williams website and look at their historic pallets. I know they have a victorian pallet and an arts and crafts pallet with some beautiful colors in them.

The one thing to remember is that you dont have to do either classic or modern. You can have both. Look through magazines like tradtional homes or even cottege living (i notice they do a lot of this mixing old and new style). Domino is another GREAT resource for this style (check resources below). If you ask a more specific question I can help you more.

Good luck and have fun!!
