Is there a special paint I should use to paint on China plates and can I use a stamp method?
Question:I would like to be able to personalize some china plates that I have using a stamping method. Can this be done without it looking tacky?
Answers:
Sure it can. You can use acrylics or glass paints (available at most art supply stores or even from Walmart). The only caveat is that the paint will wear off if you put them in the dishwasher. But they'll look fine if you just wash the dishes in the sink. I've seen some really beautiful hand-painted china and crystal goblets. I've even seen people go to the DIY pottery centers and use glazes on plain white china and have them refired to make the glaze permanent. All of them can look great depending on your artistic skills.
Porcelin Paint is best for china. Stamping will look bad, try stinciling or free hand.
