How do i rewire my two story house?
Question:my basement and first floor and second floor are 700sq feet each how do i run the lighting and receptacles
do i run all the lighting to one breaker and all the receptacles to another breaker
Answers:
better safe than sorry in an older house, I would call an electrician.
You don't want all the lights going off at once, so use two circuits for them ( 3 is better) Kitchen requires two circuits for small appliances, floors receptacles should be on separate circuits, you want one outside recept on each side of house. You need wiring for electric heating, A/C. Electric range requires another circuit. It could go on and on. You can buy some good books on the subject.
Our 200 year old home has been wired so that each room has it's own breaker, the hot water heater on a separate breaker, washer and dryer on a separate breaker, and electric stove on a separate breaker. I know it sounds crazy, but we live in a hurricane prone area and it's a blessing to be able to use our generator to keep the kitchen going.
