What can I do to cover a cut out in my wall??

Question:I have a cut out for a tv above my fireplace. The cut out holds up to a 36 inch tv well needless to say my tv is way to big for it. I am trying to find out what I can do to cover it. Please help!

Answers:
Find a nice painting to hang over it.
Hang a disco ball in the hole and plug in a mini spotlight to shine on it.
Put some shelves in it and put your knick-knacks on them.
Put a pillow in there for your cat to sleep on.
Put a fish tank in there.
Put your super woofer speaker in there.
Hang a bear skin over the hole.
Put doors on it and use the space for storage.
Make it into a nativity scene for Christmas (if you're into that).

You can make a bookshelf out of it or put a large plant in it. You could cover it with drywall, but that involves some carpentry, drywall experience. Plus, you may want to have it exposed at a later time or if you sell your home. Also, you could purchase a large painting and cover it as well.
Put in a wall safe... I have always wanted one. They are cool. You would still need a big picture to cover it up.
