What are good Grandfather Clocks and where to buy one?
Question:

The best is: Howard Miller. I have one and I love it. I got mine at Ethan Allen, but that was many moons ago.
You could search on the web to get an idea of the kind of grandfather clock you want (if you're not sure), or visit a nice upscale furniture store in your area, which would be my recommendation, as that way you'll be able to see the real thing. And, a customer service rep would be on hand to answer any questions that you may have. Plus, I'm sure they'll have others available, most quality furniture stores do.
When asking questions, do ask about set-up, as usually a clock maker needs to come out to adjust your chimes and attach the weights and will instruct you on the winding mechanism.
These clocks run anywhere from $900 up to $4,500.
They are a fun clock. I love mine. It's sitting in my entry and every hour on the hour it chimes. You also have options on your clock to change your chime sounds, which makes it interesting to hear all the different sounds. My clock's face shows the moon, which rotates. Cool!
You won't regret it! Have fun telling time the grandfather clock way!
