What is the best type of fabric for dining room chairs?

Question:I am going to recover some chairs. I don't have kids so I don't really need anything especially durable or stain resistant.

Answers:
You will need something with a fairly tight weave to resist staining and wear and to hold up to the staples or tacks you use to attach it. A nice heavy polished cotton would work. It comes in a wide variety of colors and prints to go with your decorating. As stated, it is still a good idea to Scotch Guard it.

Kids aint the only ones who spill sh!t
check for material that is sturdy like for example a thick cotton mix w/polyester... as long as the fabric do not contain any spandex or have an elastic fibers you should be fine. what a fantastic solution to transform and give your chairs a new chic look
a thick upolstery fabric. I would go ahead and spray with Scotch Guard even if you don't have kids
